The teachers of the Geography and History department have been working on a project consisting of creating a set of resources for being used in our classes (independently if in Spanish or in English) for promoting speaking and reviewing contents.
Throughout the year we have created what we have named Historical Gymkana / Gimkana histórica, and we have used it in some moments of the year with very satisfying results.
We show it to you here, hoping you can enjoy it!
Our Gimkana is made up of different tasks:
- Questions about important historical events
- Questions about geographical features.
- Who is who game: with pictures of important people that the students might identify or maybe we can complicate the game asking them about the period they belong to...
- Matching cards game: connecting historical people with events or connecting physical geographical features with the climate they correspond to or with the continent we can find them.
- What was it used for? it is a game in which the students will see pictures of oldfashioned objects that they have to guess what were they used for.
Joining all these games together we have named it as Historical Gymkana but we can use the games independently one from the others or all of them together. It is a good way of encouraging for instance fast finishers students. Do you like it?
